New contracts totalling almost £4 million have been won by Outreach Limited for the supply of seven pipehandlers to various platforms in the North Sea and the Middle East.

Among the new contracts are an order for four Outreach pipehandlers from Apache North Sea Ltd. for the Forties oil platforms, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta.

The Rowan Companies have ordered two Outreach pipehandlers, anticipated to be installed on the Rowan Bob Palmer and Rowan Ralph Coffman, by the end of November this year.

These customers have previous successful experience of using the Outreach range of pipehandlers and all seven of the Palfinger PKM700T knuckle boom systems will be manufactured, delivered and commissioned in the coming months.

The PKM700T is one of the latest models in the Outreach range of knuckle boom pipe handlers. It has a 21 metre boom and a lifting capacity of 3.5 tonnes. It is used to transfer pipe from the pipe deck directly to the V-door, catwalk or conveyor and back.

Capable of operating in wind speeds up to 70 mph (31 m/sec.), the pipehandler’s low weight and compact dimensions makes it suitable for installation on new and existing Drill Ships, Jack-Ups, Semi-submersibles and Fixed Platforms.

Gary Potts, managing director, Sales, Outreach Ltd. said, “We are so pleased to have secured these contracts. All of our 19 years experience in the design and manufacture of knuckle boom pipe handlers has been distilled into these latest versions and we are confident they will deliver optimum performance in the demanding offshore environment.”

Outreach has supplied over 50 knuckle boom pipe handlers and access systems to oil and gas installations across the globe since 1992.

As well as supplying access and pipe handling systems to the oil and gas sector, Falkirk based Outreach Ltd supplies hydraulic loading cranes, access and handling equipment to a wide range of other industries including marine, renewables, transport, construction, waste management, emergency services, local authorities and roads. The company offers a single door sales, design and installation service with back up including spares, repairs, servicing and training.
